Charity marketing that makes every pound go further
Charities need the same standard of marketing as businesses, with smaller budgets and more scrutiny. We help UK charities and non-profits reach donors, volunteers and the people they serve, and we give free support to selected causes.

Why is charity marketing so hard to get right?
Because a charity website has to serve several audiences at once, with a small team and a tight budget. Donors, volunteers, the people you help, funders and partners all arrive looking for different things, and trustees want evidence that marketing spend is working.
One website, several audiences
Donors, volunteers and service users all land on the same homepage and struggle to find what they came for.
Free advertising left unused
Many eligible charities never apply for Google Ad Grants, or let the account lapse.
Impact that is hard to see
Reports full of activity, with no clear link to donations, volunteers or people helped.
Good causes deserve good marketing. That is what our value of levelling the field means in practice.
Why does Lobo Digital work with charities?
Because levelling the field is one of our four values. Free marketing support for selected charities and non-profits has been part of Lobo Digital since the start, and it is intended to stay that way.
We also work with charities on a paid basis, with the same senior standard and the same published pricing as every other client. The person you brief is the person who does the work.
We are an accredited Living Wage Employer, because the people doing the work should be paid fairly too.

How do supporters and service users find a charity?
Whether someone wants help, wants to give or wants to volunteer, the path is similar.
- A need or a cause
Something prompts them
A personal situation, a news story, a friend's fundraiser or a wish to give time.
- Search
Who can help?
Google, AI answers and local search, often phrased as a problem rather than a charity name.
- Trust
Are they credible?
Clear information, visible impact, registered charity status and real stories.
- Action
They get involved
A donation, a referral, a volunteer application or a request for help, made easy.

Google Ad Grants gives eligible charities up to $10,000 a month of free search advertising on Google.
Eligibility, the application and the account rules are all set by Google, and accounts have to be actively managed to stay compliant. We can help you check eligibility, apply, and run the account so the grant reaches the people you want to reach.
Worth knowing
Government bodies, hospitals and healthcare providers, and schools and universities are generally not eligible, although some have separate charitable arms that are. Google's own eligibility pages have the current details.
What marketing mistakes do charities make most often?
Most are down to limited time rather than limited skill, and many are quick to fix.

A donate button that is hard to find
Supporters ready to give have to hunt for how.
The fix: A clear, consistent donate route on every page.
No pages for the people you help
Services described in the charity's language rather than the words people search for.
The fix: Pages written around the questions people in need actually ask.
Ad Grants unused or lapsed
Free advertising never applied for, or an account suspended for not meeting the rules.
The fix: An eligibility check and an actively managed account.
Impact reported as activity
Numbers of posts and events, with no link to outcomes.
The fix: Reporting on donations, volunteers, referrals and people reached.
A site that is hard to use
Slow pages and poor accessibility shut out the people a charity most wants to reach.
The fix: A fast, accessible site that works for everyone.
No local presence
Local services with no Google Business Profile, so people nearby cannot find them.
The fix: A profile for each local service or centre.
Which searches should a charity rank for?
Most people search for their need, not for a charity's name.
| Search type | Example search | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Help with a need | support for young carers in London | Someone who needs your service now |
| Local help | bereavement support near me | A local search with urgent intent |
| Volunteering | volunteering opportunities in Bristol | A potential volunteer ready to act |
| Giving | donate to a children's charity | A donor choosing where to give |
| Partnerships | corporate charity partnerships UK | Businesses looking for a partner charity |

Do you offer free marketing for charities?
Yes, for selected charities and non-profits. It has been part of Lobo Digital since the start, and you can find out more and get in touch through our free marketing support page.
What is Google Ad Grants and is my charity eligible?
Google Ad Grants gives eligible charities up to $10,000 a month of free search advertising. Eligibility is set by Google and generally requires valid charitable status. Government bodies, hospitals and schools are usually excluded. We can help you check and apply.
How can a small charity improve its website?
Start with the basics: a clear route for each audience, pages written in the words people use to search for help, a donate button that is easy to find, and a site that is fast and accessible. These changes often matter more than a redesign.
Do you work with non-profits that are not registered charities?
Yes, including social enterprises and community interest companies. Some programmes, such as Google Ad Grants, do require registered charitable status.
How do you measure charity marketing?
By outcomes that matter to your charity and your trustees: donations, volunteer applications, referrals and people reached, broken down by channel. Visits and impressions are included as context, not as the result.
How much does charity marketing cost?
Selected charities receive free support. Otherwise we charge the same published rate as every client, £62.50 an hour plus VAT, in monthly packages from 15 hours with a minimum three-month term.
